Reviews

Caroline Sheen gives a radiant but troubled performance as Clara, overprotected and prone to spasms of anxiety.
(
The Guardian)

As the young lovers, Caroline Sheen and Matt Rawle swoon and moon convincingly — Sheen is particularly radiant, in a white dress like a shard of broken daylight.
(
The Sunday Times)

Individual performances are strong, notably from Lucy Schaufer’s determined Margaret, fiercely trying to protect Clara (excellent Caroline Sheen) from heartache with Fabrizio (an appealing Matt Rawle).
(
Leicester Post)

In the central performances, Caroline Sheen and Matt Rawle are vibrant and energetic, conveying a world where two intertwined souls and the passion of youth is everything. (Whatsonstage.com)

Clara, exquisitely played by Caroline Sheen in moods that range from innocence and rapture to temper and hysteria, produces heart-stopping moments of stillness.

Other cast included Daniel Crossley as Bert, Martin Ball as Mr Banks and Louise Bowden as Mrs Banks.

Reviews

Caroline Sheen has Mary Poppins down to a tee. She is quirky, bossy, mischievous but also big-hearted as she attempts to instil discipline and kindness into youngsters Jane and Michael Banks.
(Birmingham Mail)

Caroline Sheen is faultless as the nanny, making a role that so many associate with Julie Andrews her own.
(
Metro Scotland)

Caroline Sheen’s version of the magical nanny is practically perfect: hovering between keeping Mary both loveable but also strong and impertinent without falling into the trap of becoming obnoxious.

Caroline Sheen in Once In A Lifetime

ONCE INA LIFETIME at the National Theatre was Caroline’s first professional engagement in a straight play.

Caroline played the role of Susan Walker in a cast that included Adrian Scarborough as George and David Suchet as Hermann Glogauer.

Reviews

He films the wrong script, employs the world's most scatty actress (a wonderfully wide-eyed Caroline Sheen), yet still manages to turn out a picture that is a commercial and critical success.
(musicomh.com)

David Suchet as Glogauer creates a witty and commanding performance as the capricious studio head; Adrian Scarborough is endearing as George, the dopey member of the trio who ends up supervising the studio with disastrous results and Caroline Sheen is charming as his equally dopey would –be starlet girl friend Susan Walker.

Caroline Sheen in A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The ForumFor her debut at the National Theatre, Caroline appeared as Philia in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ONT HE WAY TO THE FORUM.

The cast also included Des Barrit as Pseudolus, Sam Kelly as Senex, Hamish McColl as Hysterium and Philip Quast as Miles Gloriosus.

Reviews

Embodying the slave-girl Philia, Caroline Sheen's impression of pea-brained sex-appeal is satirically spot on, singing her own praises with a faintly robotic smile.
(Independent on Sunday)

Caroline Sheen, spot-on as the winsome airhead.
(Mail on Sunday)

Caroline Sheen's touchingly willing virgin, Philia
(Daily Telegraph)

There are also nice performances from….Caroline Sheen as their prey, the pouting Barbie Doll who sings “I’m lovely, all I am is lovely, lovely is the one thing I do.”
(The Times)

Michael Ball and Caroline Sheen in Chitty Chitty Bang BangCaroline played the role of Truly Scrumptious in the second cast of CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG at the London Palladium in 2003.

She played opposite Michael Ball, Gary Wilmot and Jason Donovan in a cast which also included Anton Rodgers and Russ Abbot as Grandpa Potts, and Victor Spinetti and Sandra Dickinson as the Baron and Baroness.

Reviews

Sheen's Truly is just the right side of bumptious. These are performers who are never going to be out-acted by the scenery.
(The Guardian)

Sheen lends a combination of English aristocratic primness and tremendous warmth to Truly, and her pairing with Willmot is beautifully complementary.
(London Theatre Guide)

Sheen is Chocolate-box Perfect.
(Evening Standard)

Caroline Sheen as Sandy in GreaseGREASE at the Victoria Palace Theatre in 2002 was Caroline’s first outing as a true leading lady.

She played Sandy opposite Ben Richards and Greg Kohout as Danny.

Reviews

Caroline Sheen manages to make saccharine Sandy likeable, and her two solos steal the show.

Caroline Sheen in Les Miserables

In 2001/2002 Caroline landed her dream role of Eponine in LES MISERABLES at the Palace Theatre in London.

She was part of a cast which included Carmen Cusack as Fantine, Jody Crosier as Marius and Hans Peter Janssens as Jean Valjean.

Caroline Sheen in The Witches of EastwickCaroline’s big break came in 2000 when Cameron Mackintosh offered her the role of Jennifer Gabriel in his brand new musical THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK.

To create a role in an original musical was something Caroline had always wanted to do.

She worked alongside such luminaries as Joanna Riding, Maria Friedman and her good friend Rosemary Ashe.

1999 saw Caroline join the Original Cast of a new Musical based on the songs of Abba. A curious notion, and one which has proved brilliantly successful! In MAMMA MIA, Caroline understudied the lead role of Sophie Sheridan and was thrown on just a few days after opening night. The first year of a hit show sees many famous people in the audience and Caroline performed “Sophie” in front of Sarah Jessica Parker, Victoria Wood and Elaine Paige to name but a few.

Whilst studying at Drama College, Caroline chose to do a project on the musicals which the Donmar Warehouse had hitherto produced. In 1998 she found herself taking part in one! Caroline played the role of Florinda in INTO THE WOODS, one of Cinderella’s wicked Stepsisters. The cast included Jenna Russell as Cinderella, Sophie Thompson as The Baker’s Wife and Damien Lewis as the Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince. Stephen Sondheim himself came across from the States to oversee the previews.

Caroline’s West End Debut was in 1997 as the Pink Lady Marty in GREASE. She also understudied the roles of Rizzo and Sandy and performed them on numerous occasions. Variety is the spice of life!! Other members of the cast included Shane Richie, Luke Goss and Ian Kelsey as Danny, Shona Lindsay and Marissa Dunlop as Sandy and Philip Bulcock as Kenickie. As Caroline had to leave college early to take this job, she fitted in writing her degree dissertation around rehearsals and performances – finally graduating in 1998!
